Helvetesfallet

We are in Dalarna now. Our journey is going smoothly and although temps have dropped quite a bit at currently 4°C in Mora, Sweden (it just snowed!) we don't have to freeze. Our heating system in the caravan works well after having replaced the reducing valve.

Yesterday, we made a detour to Helvetesfallet (hell's canyon) and enjoyed the stunning views.

Some steep stairs

There was even some snow left on the trail

At the canyon

We'll do some more shopping in Mora before we'll head further south. Temps shall go up again tomorrow.

Our Journey Begins

We are on the road. Finally! Preparations took longer than expected but now we have packed all things together ready to leave for new adventures.

Our first stop at the water power station in Slagnäs (Sweden)
 Still some snow left

Nature is the best playground!

At Strömsund there is hardly any snow left and waters are only covered with a thin layer of ice. At the point that we reach Östersund the landscape is snow and ice-free.

Temperature is around 10°C during daytime. At night around zero. For us, being used to Lapland temperatures this actually feels warm! :o)

Our gas system failed the first two days/nights meaning no cooking or heating possibilities in the caravan. Well, almost...we used our small camping stove instead to have at least a warm meal a day and some hot tea.
Today on Monday we bought a new reducing valve for our gas bottle. Let's hope next night will be cosy warm. Strangely, Finnja slept better than ever during nights and she really enjoys our trip so far. That's great because I must admit I was a bit worried at first.

Ok, I will try to post this entry now while on the road... writing more soon!

Skiing Towards Spring

We will be heading south in a couple of days saying goodbye to the snow in Lapland and saying hello to spring waiting for us...

Happy Easter everyone!

Snowshoe Tour

It has been our first snowshoe tour in a long time! After having posted our ^spectacular^ snowshoe jumps a few days ago I will now show a little more about our snowshoe trip at Trollforsen. We have been at Trollforsen multiple times, also in the summer and autumn and it really is worth a visit at this time of the year as well! It's easier accessible with snowshoes than skis though as terrain is quite "bumpy".

Walking in snow covered woods on the island of Trollforsen.

Enjoying the views...

We made it!

Snowshoe Jump

Yesterday, we went on a snowshoeing trip with fantastic springwinter (vårvinter as it is called here in Sweden) weather. I will write more about the trip later but first I will post a few fun pictures about our snowshoe jumps! :o)

Walking on a lake

Packed snow frozen hard on snowmobile tracks make it possible to walk on a snow covered lake...

...or even push a pram without sinking.

This is no April Fool's Day joke ;o)
