View over Piteälven in October

A couple of days ago we went for a walk at the Piteälven (The Pite River) only a 10km drive from our house. When you turn right from the E45 there is a forest road going along the river with plenty of resting places right at the river. These places are pretty occupied by campers during the summer time or by locals in spring winter to drive snowmobile over the frozen river, do ice-fishing or a fire on snow to grill sausages or suovas (smoked reindeer). But at this time of the year you have the river all to yourself.
As you can see it was a lovely sunny day. Temperatures around zero, the sun felt warm on that day (almost like spring but with much less snow:) but you could tell by the partly frozen riverside that winter is on it's way...

I am to old to look forward to the winter, but there is nothing I ca do to avoid it. Nice picture and report from Lappland.
