In February we bought ten chickens. They turned out to be five roosters and five hens. Now we have five hens and one rooster left, which is a good group as having more than one rooster just led to a lot of riots.A few weeks later we bought two rabbits. Lucky and Lilly. As you can imagine very soon we had more than two rabbits. Five very cute tiny rabbits.Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-79924325819535328612021-10-18T09:29:00.001+02:002021-12-08T09:52:04.504+01:00First Snow Hike Mid October and we get the first snow to stay on the ground. It was a very good idea to take boots with us as our shoes would have been soaken wet within a few hrs time.We went through "gammal skog" (old forest)......and swamps for a coupleAnnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-45251188158783863612021-10-05T17:36:00.000+02:002021-12-21T17:40:21.189+01:00October Day HikingEstimated route: ca. 20kms, 7hrs of walking Been a dull day weather like but that's ok when hiking as long as it doesn't pour down. Originally I had planned to walk a loop not far away from this place but then followed my intuition to hike a different trail. I like spontaneous choices and even though this one was demanding in a way that I had to find my own way through the bushes (forest) Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-26277587418976524822021-09-30T13:12:00.000+02:002021-11-19T10:21:28.589+01:00September hike for myself Recently, I have found the passion of hikine alone. Most of my hikes in life I have done with other people, mostly family members. I was so used to it that I didn't even consider hiking on my own. After all it's safer to hike with someone else rather than alone, isn't it? Yes, it might be. But is it less fun? No! Not for me at least. Once I decided to hike alone and I just marched on it Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-73298407290478905982021-09-12T10:10:00.000+02:002021-11-19T10:22:44.612+01:00 Fishing in JokkmokkIt was windy September evening we decided to go fishing with net in Vajkijaur, Jokkmokk. And even though it was windy and a bit chilly, the evening sky was amazing...Next morning we rewed out on the lake again. This time it was almost windstill and good conditions to take in the nets again. We even got lucky go catch some fish! :-)Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-65295216556536805932021-09-11T08:30:00.000+02:002021-11-19T16:15:54.054+01:00Hiking in Muddus national parkBeen wanting to do it for awhile. Hike in the Muddus. Autumn colours were at its best in the second week of September in the Muddus and it was an intense 7hrs walk much worth. The Muddus national park is located between Jokkmokk and Gällivare north of the Arctic Circle. Although it was in the middle of the week and low season the parking area was full of cars. So be prepared to meet people! We had some pretty fine spring winter weather lately here in Lapland. Thus we went for a couple of snowboarding and skiing tours, which was great fun!We went to the fine ski slopes in Jäckvik and Galtis both situated in the municipality of Arjeplog. As well as to Tjamstabacken in Malå. We hope to go to two more in April; that is Kanisbacken in Älvsbyn and to the well-known skicentre of Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-89730681661678296762021-02-07T20:22:00.001+01:002021-04-10T16:42:45.795+02:00Cross-country skiingWe have been cross-country skiing quite a bit this winter. As this winter was relatively mild we have enjoyed ski-tours throughout all winter months. Usually January and February are the coldest months with temps way below -20 degrees Celsius. But this winter we only had some single days of temps below -30 degrees Celsius.Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-12528343830961402802021-01-09T16:43:00.001+01:002021-04-10T16:51:11.789+02:00Outdoor Cooking Today we made a fire in our yard. We cleared the snow from our fireplace and baked some fresh bread, steaked souvas (smoked reindeer) and had some sallad to it. Outdoor food is just the best! It was about time as days are getting shorter and we only have a couple of hours of daylight left at this time of the year. With snow it's just so much brighter... and the kids love it!Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-75718178754576507842020-11-05T23:28:00.000+01:002020-11-05T23:28:29.721+01:00A walk with the kidsA few days ago we went on a beautiful walk with the kids along the Piteälven. Most of the fallen snow two weeks ago has melted away again. On the third weekend of October. Often it's in the end of September or beginning of October we get the first snow in Lapland. On the day we arrived in Arvidsjaur, Lapland from our Weekend Trip to Ångermanland we were welcomed by a few cms of snow. For two days it was continuous snowfall. After the snow came the sun again and with it some beautiful winter Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-69804507822386257252020-10-20T22:20:00.001+02:002020-11-05T22:43:13.876+01:00Weekend Trip to ÅngermanlandWe were doing a short trip to Ångermanland in Västernorrland last weekend to the region of Kramfors. When we got there we were back in full autumn like a couple of weeks ago in Lapland. Beautiful colours everywhere and stunning views! I let the photos speak for themselves...We stayed in a cosy little house of Ann-Sofie and Mikael who were fantastic hosts! We even got some chanterelle from them Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-72015758790486248392020-09-14T17:01:00.002+02:002020-11-06T17:56:01.230+01:00A beautiful autumn dayThis was one of those rare and absolutely beautiful autumn days in Swedish Lapland. The air was clear and fresh, nature at its best with a mix of green, yellow, orange, brown and even more colours inbetween. From Arvidsjaur we drove first on the E45 in the direction of Arjeplog. After a few kms we turned left to a mountain called Vittjåkk. From there we followed a gravel road and parked at a lake Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-51622702389956557702020-09-05T11:09:00.002+02:002020-11-13T11:55:23.062+01:00My challenge this year! I wanted to challenge myself this year by taking a 60km cycle tour on gravel road through Reivo nature reserve. It was a perfect autumn day in September and I started off accompanied by a crystal blue sky.My starting point was at a hut at the south-east point of the Reivo lake (Sör Reivokojan).I started off by cycling north-west in the direction of Strömnäs.I made a quick halt at a well Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-82009496751585292212020-09-01T20:54:00.006+02:002020-10-27T21:24:14.121+01:00Hiking HarrejaurelidenFirst of September. The beginning of autumn in Lapland where leaves start to turn colourful and nights get chilly. A perfect time for hiking. I just love such days...The Harrejaureliden top lies in the Reivo nature reserve which is very close to where we live. One of the last hikes with our dog who dies just two weeks after this hike... he has been with us for 14 years which is also the time we'veAnnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0Norra Reivo, 933 99 Arvidsjaur, Schweden65.7666667 19.116666750.766365063610934 -16.0395833 80.76696833638907 54.272916699999996tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-9662393769627205742020-08-31T12:36:00.003+02:002020-10-27T13:00:02.064+01:00Cycling Moskosel - Tjapps (small loop)Been cycling from Moskosel following gravel road in the direction to Suddesjaur. Got hit by a stone from a passing car but luckily with my cap on so didn't feel much of it. After about 6km I turned left towards Tjapps on a small gravel road going through forest mostly but there is a part where they cut trees a little further up so I had a nice view over the hilly landscape.I passed Reivo nature Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-65671398121844868312019-09-01T18:55:00.000+02:002019-09-01T18:55:08.077+02:00Bicycle ToursThis summer I did three tours by bike with a friend of mine. They were all about the same length and all of them in the municipality of Arvidsjaur.
The first tour was around Piteälv with probably most ups and downs on the way. It felt like the most difficult to ride but it was probably also due to the fact that we were slightly better trained with every tour we made. 😊
The second tourAnnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-39480496065143015692019-08-29T19:15:00.001+02:002019-08-29T19:15:51.901+02:00Camping Trip to NorwayIn mid July we did a few days camping trip to Norway. We drove route 95 from Arvidsjaur via Arjeplog and crossed the border to Norway along Junkerdalen, a beautiful valley just across the border and then followed the E6 to Fauske. We stopped there to do a little bit of sightseeing and fishing.
We then continued along the E6 heading north and enjoyed the beautiful landscape...

For about two weeks we went swimming every day. That was wonderful! The kids enjoyed that very much, too.
The weather has been crazy the past weeks. From mid June to mid July it was unusual cold and dry weather. Not good for our garden! Then suddenly from one day to the other it became very hot with temperatures above Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10395315211351740253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5701811416146130959.post-48834751064035744892019-07-16T20:38:00.000+02:002019-07-16T20:38:47.777+02:00Steam Train from Arvidsjaur to SlagnäsA few days ago we went on a special trip with a steam train (ångtåg) from Arvidsjaur to Slagnäs and back to Arvidsjaur. On our way the train had to stop a couple of times due to reindeers on the track.
Half way in Slagnäs we had the chance to see the locomotive change from one end of the train to the other in order to go back to Arvidsjaur. The locomotive was then open for view inside.
